The ministry has urged the TRA to grant a license to a third major telecoms operator to work in Oman. What will this accomplish for consumers in the country and the industry at large?

We have enjoyed many advancements in telecoms over the past five years. We started with the migration of spectrums from military sites into civil sites. The next advancement was the creation of a broadband national strategy and broadband company. In this model, we have one company doing the infrastructure for all the operators, which enabled us to have more operators for fixed-line internet connections. Also, since the government broadband company lays the infrastructure, the operator can then concentrate on and improve service for the people.
What progress has been made in the effort to advance online government services?

We have carried out many new initiatives in e-government, and Invest Easy is one that has had a good impact. Our customs system Bayan has had great improvements, and we have also had improvements in health manpower and municipality services. Invest Easy mainly works with commercial registration, but we want it to be the platform to obtain all the other permits as well.
